NATURAL SKIN CARE - creams and oils
Using natural ingredients from the herb garden and herbal suppliers we will make a face cream, a face oil, body lotion and cleansing grains that we believe match anything you can buy. We will look at the most appropriate ingredients for different skin types. The skin cream that we make seems to be univerally popular. We can supply the ingredients for you to continue making your own products with minimum of effort. One advantage is that you do not have to put preservatives in your own products and you can be entirely sure what you are putting on your skin. It is also an enjoyable pastime. June 24th Sunday 5.00pm. - 7 p.m.
MIDSUMMER HERB WALK
This is St John's Day so the hypericum perforatum or St John's Wort should be just beginning to flower, ready to make into a good cream for sunburn. Traditionally also it is the day when maidens should sleep under an elder tree to dream of the man they are to marry. Both these plants have been considered to offer protection, the elder from mischievious spirits and the hypericum from holes in the aura.. you can take what you like from herbal lore - there is plenty of it out there. This is an opportunity to bring and share knowledge and identify plants in the meadow, garden and hedgerow.

£10.00 Pre-payment is not for once necessary, but please let us know if you may be coming. either email: herbs@herbsforhealing.net or phone: 07773687493

He will demonstrate the treatment of cuttings and dividing plants, and will discuss suitable compost and the use of cold frames. The day will cover annuals, biennuals and perennials, both hardy and tender plants. Late summer is a good time to take cuttings so participants will be able to put their new skills immediately into practice.

Richard is head gardener at Barnsley House, just a few yards from Herbs for Healing, but with a totally different style and scale to ours. Richard has many years experience as a hands on gardener and has risen to the challenge of giving Barnsley House Gardens a new lease of life making it worthy of its reputation as one of Britain's finest gardens.

Gosh! Left the herb garden feeling so calm and wonderful on Monday night and wanted to stay Thank you.
It was total respite from the city which is exactly what I needed, but you chaps have created such a cosseting idyll at Barnsley both from the beauty and spirituality of the garden itself and from your collective warmth as people. It was such fun and such a giggle… and I learnt hugely (I know for sure others felt the same).

Also other common ailments like indigestion, insomnia, stress, rashes, skin problems, aches and pains and headaches. We will make up some remedies to store in our medicine cupboards.

£69 for the day including lunch, or £130 the whole week-end.

October 7th Sunday 10.30 - 3.30

Home Remedies  Day two

Taking a different approach today - looking in depth at individual herbs, many of which are easily sourced from the wild or grown in the garden. We will choose whichever plants seem appropriate for the group...for instance, dandelion, nettle, chamomile or elder, are all complex and powerful healers with along lasting results if treated respectfully. We will start taking an intuitive approach, looking closely at the plants and how they grow, trying some teas, getting to know them as personalities. We will ask Saskia to contribute her understanding of the plant essence.  Later we can take a more academic approah and see what their reputations and history can tel us and what are their chemical constituents.
£69 for the day, including lunch
£130 for entire weekend
